Free Reads for Mexico City Subway Riders (2/26/2004) The city's culture department launched the project to encourage a culture of reading. Volunteers hand the free volumes to commuters, who then hand them back on their way out of the subway. |

Old, Rare Books Available (2/26/2004) Thanks to the British Library, Amazon.co.uk now has an additional 2.5 million listings, many of which date before the 1970 introduction of ISBN. |

University Locks Up Books, Frees Text (2/20/2004) Manchester U. has made every book published in English between 1453 and 1800 available online! If my school had done this back when I was studying English lit, it would have made my life so much easier. |

University of Washington Sells Card Catalogs (2/20/2004) The university is selling 142 of these, each for $150-200. That's actually a fair price. I got mine for only $40, but people have offered me up to $300 for it. |
