Just finished reading a fun murder mystery called Dewey Decimated, by Charles Goodrum, who worked at the Library of Congress from 1948 to 1978. As the title suggests, the murder takes place in a library, the fictional Werner Bok in Washington D.C. I don't think librarians are much different from other folks in our appreciation of good fictional takes on our profession. A vanity search revealed 1511 WorldCat libraries and 102 CalCat libraries in possession of this title. Other Werner Bok mysteries include The Best Cellar, Carnage of the Realm, and A Slip of the Tong.
Apple Computer's recent attempt to force bloggers to disclose confidential sources was thwarted by the ruling in O'Grady v. Superior Court (2006 Cal. App. LEXIS 802), in which the Sixth Appellate Court of the Court of Appeal of the State of California ruled that bloggers and citizen journalists are entitled to the same legal protections as journalists.
